The refinery explosion is a big risk. Let's work for a safer refinery!
The massive February 2015 ExxonMobil explosion spread hazardous dust over miles. Subsequently disclosed: an 80,000 pound chunk flew 100 feet, narrowly missing their Modified Hydrofluoric Acid (MHF) tank. Damage to this tank could have created an MHF cloud killing our children in their schools, our elderly in hospitals, and injuring hundreds of thousands of healthy people - all faster than any alarm systems in place could have given us warning.
Dr. Eng will bring scientific and technical expertise to the Torrance City Council to better evaluate risks from large-scale HF/MHF operations near Torrance homes.
